Amarda obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science at Rice University, where she was also an NIH Nanobiology Training Program Predoctoral Fellow. Amarda is currently Vice President and Chief AI Officer at George Mason University, where she is also a Professor of Computer Science and Associate Dean for AI Innovation in the College of Engineering and Computing. Amarda's research bridges foundational and use-inspired AI, and her laboratory has made several contributions in bioinformatics, computational biology, and cheminformatics.
Amarda is passionate about advancing knowledge-grounded AI research and education for science, connecting theory, methodology, and scientific discovery and is excited about contributing to C-CAS as a member of the External Advisory Board.
